Allianz Hackzone Open Insurance Program

Open Insurance Meetup held on 03 November 2020 is an online event aiming to announce #HackZone Open Insurance Program powered by Allianz Turkey and implemented by Hackquarters. Startup Applications will be accepted until 09 November 2020 at https://hackzoneinsurance.com/. This meetup was aiming to empower innovation and collaboration in Insurance Technology, raising awareness and building a strong eco-system of InsurTech startups, entrepreneurs, specialists, and corporates.

The meetup started with the program details and flow by Kaan Akın, the CEO of Hackquarters.

“This is a unique POC-focused Open Insurance program. And are looking for commercially viable startups who want to emerge on new products and services”

Following Kaan Akin, Tolga Gürkan, Allianz Turkey CEO delivered an inspirational remarks about Allianz’s global innovation strategy. Tolga Gürkan stressed the importance of creating best-practice open innovation cases in Insurance technology and the impact insurtech startups make on disrupting the global insurance practices.

First Fireside Chat was hosted by Kaan Akın, Hackquarters CEO and Founder hosted Kaan Toker, Allianz Turkey COO and Evren Ayorak, Allianz Turkey CIO discussed the Future of Insurance Technology. Kaan Toker, gave examples of potential opportunities of embracing #OpenInnovation with startups. Evren Ayorak explained how infrastructure-wise transformations needed to enable a #OpenInnovation mindset. This included simplifying services that Allianz provided and bringing a clear vision for potential partners to join innovation journeys via Allianz Developer Portal.

Second Fireside Chat was moderated by Ata Uzunhasan, Galata Business Angels Managing Partner and Onur Kırcı, Allianz Turkey CMO & CDO. This session covered the potential investment opportunities with Allianz X, Allianz global CVC.

Ata Uzunhasan: “As an investor who have invested $7 mn in 39 startups in total, I should say that the engagement of corporate companies like Allianz in the investment realm is so significant that their acquisition into the whole ecosystem can bring startups to new dimensions and transform entrepreneurship deeply.”


In the final part of the Online Meetup program working group consisting of Ceyhan Demir and Humeyra Boztunc on Allianz side and Sabina Babayeva, Hackquarters addressed the questions coming from the participants. 
What type of startups can apply to the program?

Ceyhan Demir: “Actually, we are open to all startups. If you have know-how to create a product with our API, it means you’re eligible to this program. Also, it would be better to apply fund performance category for startups good at front-end and inspect vehicle damages with AI category for startups in AI/ML. Other startups who can develop our general processes can apply open innovation category.”
