Machine Learning & AI are continuing its penetration into all industries significantly. From finance to law, its power is accelerating the processes. Considering legal transformation, different fields of AI such as Natural Language Processes have huge impact on innovation in legal processes.
Legal teams are more overloaded than ever: suffering from slow processes and inefficiencies, they spend a vast amount of time working on tedious low-level tasks that can be automated with DeepJudge which is our startup spotlight guest in this week from Switzerland. DeepJudge is the next-generation AI-powered legal document processing platform that can automatically highlight and anonymize sensitive information, smartify documents by augmenting them with external data and search for related relevant documents across in-house databases.
Founded by four Machine Learning PhDs, with over 20+ years of combined experience with Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing at scale, DeepJudge sets a new bar in context-aware legal document understanding. The resulting efficiency gains provide a real competitive advantage to our customers. Paulina from DeepJudge told us about their journey.
Tell us about your team
DeepJudge was founded by four Machine Learning PhDs with over 20+ years of combined experience with Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing at scale. Our founders received several medals in Computer Science and Theoretical Physics for their outstanding research. Our founding team has multiple years of professional experience with large-scale Machine Learning at leading US tech companies. DeepJudge is supported by distinguished advisors from academia and industry that have themselves built and run highly successful companies.
When and why did you found your startup?
Lawyers are more overloaded than ever: suffering from slow processes and inefficiency, they can barely keep up with the ever-increasing demand in jurisprudence. We have interviewed several dozens of lawyers and can confirm that their having to manually process large document volumes is one of the biggest culprits: they spend a vast amount of time going through documents to find and extract or redact the information they need, wasting precious resources on tedious low-level tasks that can be automated with DeepJudge.
What are your key and unique features?
We develop a context-aware legal document processing AI that is a generation ahead of even the largest existing legal platforms in Europe. At the core of our technology is an AI that understands multiple languages and is trained on millions of documents, thus providing unmatched ability to understand the semantic content of legal documents. When a user is assisted by our AI, we have measured a significant competitive advantage to existing tools; both in terms of the number of hours it takes to complete a task and the quality of work.
What are your plans for the next year and next 5 years?
We want to shape the workflow of the legal profession through the automation of all slow and stagnating processes therein.
