Startup Spotlight 64: Travolic

Travel startups have revolutionized the way we travel. In its simplest form, travel technology means using tech to plan and organize your travel decisions ranging from price to timing. The covid lockdown hit travel startups, and their businesses came near an end. However, after covid19, it is expected that people will be much more willing to travel than ever due to the harmful psychological effects of lockdowns. This makes travel startups gain more importance to give the direction of travel after the pandemic. 


This week's spotlight guest is Travolic from Egypt, a flight metasearch website in the MENA region based in Cairo-Egypt. Travolic brings flights prices from various airlines and online travel agencies worldwide, find and compare cheap flights. Concurrently working on providing hotels, car rentals, packages, cruises, and beyond travel necessitates. Customers fill in their flight range of prospects, demonstrating all the flights' options from the airlines and OTAs APIs display on the results page. The customer chooses their preference from real-time price, schedule, availability, and routing, subsequently redirecting the selected airline or OTA website to complete the purchase. Co-founder Mohamed Aly gave us deeper insight into their business.


When and why did you found your startup?

In January 2018, we started our business. We are the first travel metasearch in the middle east and Africa, helping travelers find value for money and offering very competitive offers.

What is your startups' stage? 

We are in the earlier stages and started to make revenue which is between $1.000 and $5.000

Tell us about the numbers that matter to you.

Now we have very few hundreds of traffic due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We have a few conversions. Now we are preparing a go-to-market plan. In 2020 most countries locked down, we decided to invest more in the UI/UX and the technology, signing more agreements with more Airlines and OTA.


What are your plans for next year and the next five years?

Implementing a go-to-market plan, launching our mobile app, adding More than 25 languages, and adding the following sections: Hotels, Transfers, Car rental, Packages, Trains, Buses, Cruises, and Motorhomes

We are also planning to have to get 16 million UV for the first year


Did you raise funds before?

Yes, we closed our seed round.
