E-commerce has revolutionized the way people shop, providing convenience and accessibility that was once unimaginable. E-commerce wishlists, which allow shoppers to save items they're interested in for later, are a valuable tool for customers to keep track of products they want to purchase and for businesses to understand their customer's preferences and buying habits. Our startup spotlight guest this week is ShopMe from the Netherlands. ShopMe is an app that combines all of your e-commerce wishlists into one. Co-founder & CEO Jerome Ibañez told us about their journey.

When and why did you found your startup?
ShopMe was born out of my personal need. I'm a frequent online shopper, and most of my time spent in e-commerce is maintaining my wishlist. I do this because I'm not a 'compulsive shopper' - I usually check prices across multiple sites or wait for sales. This is relatively easy if you only have a couple of items in your wishlist, but the problem with me is that I have around six wishlists that I actively maintain, so it's super challenging to manage them. At first, I thought I was the only one with this problem, but I discovered that my friends need help managing their wishlists and are also more disorganized than mine!

What's more shocking is that 74% of people who shop online use wish lists to keep track of things they want to buy, and they keep it across multiple channels - through the website itself or even through productivity apps like Todoist or Keep. Wish listing is a prominent user behaviour online, and I wanted to build something on top of it. I wanted to be something other than another app that lets people create wish lists - our users already have their preferred ways of building their lists, so it's not a problem for them. The problem is when they create too many - they need to remember items and miss out on sales, or things return to stock.‍
