Our guest startup spotlight is FARMAVR; Turkey's first and only educational application that includes simulations for pharmacy students, pharmacists, and pharmaceutical industry professionals prepared using virtual reality technology. Aiming to bring a new perspective and depth to the sector thanks to the training programs developed with the training solution partners, FARMAVR has become the most used pharmacy training program in Turkey as of the end of 2018. FARMAVR’s founder Uğur Tuncel shed light on their journey.
When and why did you found your startup?
Pharmacies' revenues from pharmaceuticals fell. It is challenging for them to stand with their classical way of doing business. To increase their income and profitability, they need to increase the rate of non-pharmaceutical products in their pharmacies. But competition in these products goes outside the pharmacy network. They have to compete with giant retailers and internet vendors. They should modernize their pharmacies, implement retailing rules, and increase their personnel competencies.
As FARMAVR, we respond to all these needs of our pharmacists. We are creating New Generation Pharmacies. We help pharmacies integrate into the modern world and develop new ways of doing business. We launched FARMAVR in 2018.
